Counselling and psychotherapy is an agreed arrangement in which the practitioner and the client meet regularly (usually once a week) over either a short amount of time for focussed therapy or longer term depending upon the clients needs. The sessions will address dissatisfaction, distress and /or trauma the client may be experiencing.
Psychotherapy is most effective when the client is self motivated rather than having 'been sent' by partner, relative or friend.
The therapist will not advise but rather will assist you to empower yourself in make life enhancing decisions.
Vajralila initially trained in person centred counselling (1998) and this remains a solid foundation to the approach she uses. Person centred core philosophy is that given the correct conditions a person will naturally move towards growth, healing and self actualisation. The 3 core conditions Carl Rogers, the founder of person centred counselling, identified as necessary are empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence. Vajralila is committed to offering these conditions as a basis for her work.
However, Vajralila has done much further training and has worked with different client groups. She has an integrative approach and prefers to tailor her approach to the particular clients needs. Vajralila has trained as a life coach, creative group work facilitator, hypnotherapist, Neuro Linguistic Programming, couple counsellor, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming as well as massage and auricular acupuncture. She is influenced by her Buddhist practice and meditation practice. She has run a Counselling service in a North Norfolk GP practice and has worked with clients with trauma issues for many years.
